Dear members,
Another season has ended for the lake association. Saturday, September 12th was our last meeting for the year. I just would like to give everyone an update on the discussion we had at that meeting for those of you that could not attend.
A week or so ago it was discovered that we have “Peach Blossom Fresh Water Jellyfish” in Kasoag Lake. They are cute little guys…or gals! I guess they are in many lakes in New York. They are about the size of a dime. From what research we have done, they are unable to sting people. Although they do string their food source in order to eat. Leave it to our perfect lake to inherit another species.
The muck pellet survey was completed. Each volunteer reported they lost between 1”-5” of muck in a six-week period. One of our members not in the study hit their shore line with a larger amount that our volunteers used and was able to completely rid an area of 60 ft. x 20 ft. of all of the muck down to sand and pebbles. I am taking orders for any member that is interested in purchasing these pellets for May 2021. Depending on the amount the pounds ordered it will determine the price. Orders must be given to me by February 15, 2021.
Over the past few months’ members have asked about stocking the Lake. I contracted Fish Haven Farms in Caden, New York. Great guy…Bass are running $2.50 per thousand. After a discussion at the meeting it was decided to “table” any purchasing of fish at this time.
Captain Kedley Kasoag was introduced at the meeting. Our resident pirate will be our
“ICE OUT” volunteer to be waiting for a Spring thaw. 50/50 tickets are available, guess the date and time the Captain takes the plug and you win have the pot. This has always been a good fundraiser for the association, I hope you will participate.
Our golf tournament is this upcoming weekend, September 26th. Anyone interested in helping at the Barn after the tournament please call me. I am looking for someone to sell 50/50 tickets during the event. Also anyone interested in making a donation for the raffle after the tournament, let me know. It can be a basket of goodies, a bottle of booze, golf stuff, etc.
I hope each of you have a wonder Fall & Winter season, stay safe and healthy. Thank-you for a memorable season at Kasoag Lake and all you have contributed to the association.
Always,
Mary Augustus, KLCA President
