2026 Herbicide Pulse Check
- Kelly M. reported that the 2026 Eurasian watermilfoil treatment was completed in mid-July and appears to have been effective and members agreed. Members noted an increase in duckweed which is expected as a treatment primarily targeted Eurasian watermilfoil.
2027 Herbicide Treatment
- Kelly M. presented the two treatments suggested to treat Fanwort in 2027
- The two treatments are Sonar H4C and Flumigard
- Both control fanwort, duckweed, hydrilla and Eurasian watermilfoil.
- The two treatments are Sonar H4C and Flumigard
- Sonar H4C is a systemic which works through the whole plant and spreads beyond the treated areas. It can take three to four weeks. It must stay active in the water for 45 days which requires two partial applications. There are also irrigation restrictions of 60 plus days. It has a broad collateral impact on natives.
- Flumigard is contact based, fast and is what they used in the past. Results are seen within days and there are no irrigation or water use restrictions required. It hits most nearby plants such as lilies and duckweed. It is pH sensitive.
- The applicator, Glenn, recommends Flumigard because he believes the previous application was not done at the correct rate last time so it was not as effective as it had been in the past.
- The vote on the treatment method will be held at the September 12th meeting to coincide with budget submissions to the town.
- Flumigard will cost about $13,000 which is cheaper than the Sonar H4C.
- Requested that the board send out another email with information before next meeting with the:
- Cost of Sonar H4C.

- What the plant looks like
- Comparison of treatments

Questions/Concerns/Comments
- There is a lot of duckweed this year. Can we skim the duckweed and place on shore to dry out?
- Michele W. – Yes. It will remove nutrients from the lake as long as you put it away from the shoreline.
- Discussion of ways to discourage geese.
