2022 Lake treatment permit has been completed. This year’s treatment was a challenge. A-Tip missed the cove by Teresa Steven’s house for the second year in a row. That cove is full of fanwort. We planned to ask A-Tip to come back and re-treat it when he does Green Pond, but it’s looking doubtful that Green Pond will be treated this year due to problems obtaining their permit. There will be a work party on Sunday, July 17 from 9-11. Volunteers are needed with kayaks/canoes and “Y” shaped weed cutters/rakes. Efforts will be made to reduce the fragments entering the lake from the cove.
The lake looks good and overall, the treatment worked.
The Corn-Hole Tournament has been cancelled. We’ll try to get one together next year.
The Duck race will be held after the August 13 meeting. Ducks are for sale for $5 each.
The Golf Tournament in September is an important fund-raiser. We’ll be looking for people to sign up. We’ll promote this as much and as widely as possible.
We lost two great neighbors in July. Andy Agrasto and Mike Kunkel both passed away. The Kunkel house will be listed for sale with Hunt Realty. It’s a beautiful camp and comes complete with furniture and furnishings. The Kunkel family asked for donations to KLCA in lieu of flowers.
Mark Augustus acknowledged the speed, efficiency and compassion of the Williamstown Fire Department and EMT’s who responded to the Kunkel emergency. Also the bravery of Tom Reichel, who jumped into the water to help Mike.
Mary noted that she was not able to provide the street address to 911 when she called because she didn’t have a member list nearby. A suggestion was made to provide a directory or map. The board will review the suggestion and perhaps include an opt-in checkbox for a directory listing on next year’s membership form.
The Lake district committee met and came up with some great questions for the Williamstown Town Board and/or Town Attorney. Mary reached out to the Town Supervisor, Chip, and requested a meeting, but we don’t have a response yet. There will be a status briefing on this at an Association meeting by the end of the season.
There’s a chicken BBQ at the Tavern next Saturday. Tickets are on sale now for $14 each and you’re encouraged to buy them in advance since they’re expected to sell out.
