Meeting called to order by President Mary Augustus at 10:10 at the Kasoag Lake Tavern
Minutes from meeting on May 14, 2022 summarized by Secretary Lynne Belokopitsky. Accepted by George Stowers. Seconded by Mike Kunkle.
Treasurer’s report read by Treasurer Linda Barzee. Funds balance at last meeting $20,036.84. Deposits since last meeting total $5775.14. Disbursements total $1256.56. Current balance is $24,835.42. We have 80 members. Motion to accept by Denise Hartman and seconded by Teri Krawiecz.
2022 Lake treatment has been delayed because the Luke from A-Tip is having difficulty getting Clipper. There is a generic available, but all of our applications and mailings have specifically indicated that we will be using Clipper, and we’re not sure whether DEC will allow us to substitute the generic without having to go through some or all of the approval/mailing process again. A-Tip’s price is the same for Clipper vs Generic. Mark will reach out to DEC on Monday to determine the feasibility of using the generic. An email will be sent to members with an update. Postings need to go out 7-10 days prior to the treatment.
If the treatment is delayed too long, it won’t be effective. It really needs to be done it June, but doing it later would be better than not doing it at all. A motion to do the treatment this year regardless of the date was made by Gary Knutti and seconded by Denise Hartman. The members overwhelmingly voted “yes” on this issue.
A concern was raised about lily pads. If you pull them in front of your camp, be sure to pull the roots.
Membership drive is going well. We currently have 80 members.
Apparel ordered at last meeting should be coming in this week.
We had an outstanding response for volunteers for the Lake District Committee. The first meeting is today and we’ll report out at future meetings.
Can and bottle drive – the pink can at the Tavern bulletin board is full of garbage. Mary will ask Bob Thompson to remove it since we don’t want to deal with garbage.
Tad Krawiecz asked if anyone was taking the lead on grant-writing. He saw a news segment about grants available from CNYTuesdays.com. Kelly Merrill indicated that she would nominate KLCA.
Tad also asked about the liability for unmarked stumps. Can they be removed, marked more effectively or knocked down? Should we post a speed limit? – This is a public lake, and we are not responsible for unmarked stumps. NYS boating laws impose a 5 MPH speed limit within 100 feet of the shoreline. We are exploring options for marking stumps.
Mark thanked Lynne and Nick Belokopitsky for working on the website and social media. If you aren’t receiving em.ails, please let Nick know
Motion to adjourn meeting made by Harry Tuttle, seconded by Jack Lantry.
