2027 Herbicide Treatment Vote
- Target: Fanwort, Duckweed, Hydrilla, and Watermilfoil
- Two options –
- Flumigard
- Contact-based herbicide
- Short application and restriction window
- Quoted at $9175
- Sonar H4C
- Systemic herbicide
- Extended application and restriction window of 45-90 days; could end up being the whole summer
- Dilutes and spreads to a greater area of the lake, but requires very specific conditions and can be temperamental
- Unclear of the likelihood of DEC approval
- Quoted at $9925
- Flumigard
- Comments
- Linda B – Will we need to mail notifications for every application of Sonar H4C
- Not certain, but that is one of the concerns we have for getting DEC approval
- Wilma A – The application map doesn’t show the north side of Shingle Mill Creek; will that not be treated at all for each option? A lot of Fanwort on the north side of Shingle Mill Creek, can’t vote yes on a herbicide that won’t treat that area.
- Teague O – According to Glenn, we currently do not have that area in our DEC-approved map
- Kelly M – Can we ask Ready Scout (Glenn) for an updated quote to include all of Shingle Mill Creek? We have the funds to add to the treatment area. If the north side continues to not get treated, it will eventually cause the water flow to reduce dramatically.
- Gary K – Will Ready Scout be coming out in the Spring to check the lake? Does the DEC ever come to the lake?
- Yes, Ready Scout will be coming out to do a pre-treatment survey
- DEC was supposed to send an observer, but they didn’t show up
- Teague O – based on conversation, consensus is that Flumigard is the option we’d like to go with, with the condition that we need to treat the north side of Shingle Mill Creek.
- Linda B – Will we need to mail notifications for every application of Sonar H4C
- Motion to approve Flumigard as 2027 Treatment: Gary H; Second: Brenda H
- All in favor

- Training in May
- Contact Teague if interested
- Approx. 1 hr, once per month
